We often?have black rings under our eyes from lack of sleep. It can also be the result of a poor diet, consuming too much alcohol, or smoking, as well as being genetic.

If you want to get rid of your black circles and puffiness under your eyes permanently, then you need to look at your lifestyle and your diet in the long-term. But if you want to get rid of them for a party tonight, a work meeting, or just because you don?t like them, then you can try these quick fix solutions.

These solutions are all natural and do not take a lot of time. Also, if you do them daily, you may find your puffiness disappears?completely and you’ll be looking like a supermodel in no time.

If you?re dark circles do not disappear please note that it could be a result of water retention, iron deficiency, slow metabolism, or even kidney disease. It could also be an allergic reaction to something. No matter the cause, it is a good idea to check with your?doctor or health care practitioner.

Here are some natural remedies to get rid of black circles under your eyes:

Sliced Potatoes

  • This is a cheap and effective treatment.
  • Raw potatoes help reduce puffiness and lighten dark eye circles. They have a high enzyme content which works as an anti-inflammatory.
  • Get a few potatoes and cool them down in the fridge for a few hours. Wash the potatoes then cut them into slices.
  • Place the slices over your eyes for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove and pour some cold water over your eyes.

Sliced Cucumber

You have probably heard about this from your mother or grandmother. The internet is full of images depicting?a woman lying back with cucumber slices over their eyes. It’s a method that actually does work, because a cucumber is mainly water and the cucumber will make your blood vessels constrict and reduce the puffiness. Try this:

  • Remove a cucumber from the fridge and cut a few slices, not too thick and not too thin.
  • Place them over your eyes for ten minutes.
  • Remove and rinse your eyes gently.

?Ice Cubes

This is effective but cold. It also should just be done for a short length of time, and should be avoided completely?if you are suffering from a sinus infection.

  • Wrap two ice cubes in two light cloths and gently place over your eyes.
  • Rub them gently around your eyes, too.
  • Do this for a few minutes or as long as you can bear.
  • Watch the puffiness and blackness disappear.

Tea circles

This is another trick that may well have come from your mother or grandmother. Tea circles have been used for centuries to relieve stress from eyes. Soak the tea circles in warm water then keep them in the fridge for twenty minutes. Place them over your eyes for about ten minutes and rinse with cold water.

Chamomile is especially beneficial but you can use any type of teabag.

Milk

Cleopatra was onto something when she used to bathe in milk for pure, white, soft and silky skin. You don?t need to bathe in it though, just soak some cotton wool in cold milk.

Place the cotton wool balls over your eyes. You can keep adding milk if need be.

Twenty minutes of this and your eyes will be fresh, sparkling and without puffiness or dark circles.

Egg white

Separate the egg white from the yolk and mix the egg white with a fork. Try and make it quite hard, almost like meringue but without the sugar.

Apply under your eyes for about twenty minutes. You will feel it harden?as it dries, but this is good.

Rinse and be amazed at the results. Repeat as often as you like.

Almond Oil

If your dark rings persist, try using almond oil. Massage it gently into the skin under your eyes in the morning and in the night. Your skin will improve, puffiness should disappear, and your black rings will definitely start to fade.

All of these methods can be used as often as you like, but remember, if your eye circles persist you may need to change certain aspects of your lifestyle such as: getting more sleep, eating healthier or – if you suspect a medical problem – consulting your health practitioner or doctor.

Tomato Juice and Lemon Juice

A little tomato juice, organic if possible, with a few drops of real lemon juice, soaked in cotton wool, on and over your eye – brilliant!

General Eye Health

It is also a good idea to limit your time in front of a computer screen or television. You may want to consult an optometrist in case you suspect you are straining your eyes, or wearing the wrong glasses.

Drink as much water as you can, eat well, include plenty of dark leafy greens in your diet, as well as lean meat, chicken and fish, and cut out sugar. It is also a good idea to cut out carbs and any processed foods. Try and eat raw and organic food, and include raw honey in your diet.

Start your day by drinking lemon water, too.
