There are a number of products that have been developed using cannabis as an ingredient. These products have been found to be successful in treating several conditions.

There is a growing belief that in the Scientific and Medical field that Irritable bowel Syndrome may have a ?brain-gut connection.?

This means that depression and anxiety could contribute to IBS. Apparently, this cannabis-infused chewing gum could be the hero of the day for those who suffer from IBS. In fact, 3.5 million people in America suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Doctors in the Netherlands are saying that a cannabis-infused chewing gum, manufactured in America, could be the solution to curing IBS.

It has been well known that cannabidiol, or CBD (a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that contains anti-inflammatory benefits), has been proven to be helpful in the treatment of IBS. It is no shocker that a CBD pharmaceutical meant to treat IBS has come.

At the Wageningen University in the Netherlands, medical researchers will test the CBD-infused chewing gum, made by a company in San Diego, California, Medical Marijuana, Inc., thats has been said to sell hemp-derived CBD oil.

Laboratory tests for ?CanChew? at the university will be the first in testing its ability to aid in IBS treatment. Even though there is no cure at this time, this is a great advancement in the movement for curing Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

CBD is effective in reducing the severity and frequency of colon spasms that tend to affect those who suffer from IBS. When tension in the digestive tract is lowered, it can stop bloating and cramping to ensure IBS patients can have a normal bowel movement.

In each piece of chewing gum, there is 50 milligrams of CBD. In the test, 40 patients with IBS from 18-65 years old, will receive the gum, while others will take a placebo. Only six pieces of the gum will be given each day to help alleviate IBS flare-ups.

The investor for medical marijuana, AXIM, believes CBD gum could be beneficial in the in the treatment of other diseases that affect the Gastrointestinal tract, like Crohn?s and colitis.

This form of treatment could very much help those who suffer from Crohn?s disease. It isn?t predictable at this time if the CBD-infused gum will make its way to the American pharmaceutical market. AXIM has stated that they are ready to enter into a second round of clinical trials if the gum passes tests done in the Netherlands.
